Debt equity conversion (DECO) is just one of many examples where we introduced a new product in the alternative asset space and managed to increase our footprint in Africa as an investment destination for our investors in the GCC region. Sidra-Ancile Global Structured Trade Investment Fund (Fund) is a prime example where we have created a product that caters to the financial needs of its investors. The fund invests across Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia and MENA region supporting growth in the real economy by actively providing working capital to non-speculative, value added SMEs which focus on agricultural commodities, energies and metals. It’s worth mentioning that the fund was the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia when it was first introduced in 2012 and has since become the world’s largest Islamic structured trade investment fund. These two products complement our real estate portfolio which is a mix of income generating and direct investment in developments.
Real estate asset class continues to be dominant in the firm’s range of activities in the near future as we continue to expand the range of strategies both horizontally and vertically. 2015 has been a noteworthy year in terms of our real estate investments wherein we have closed record 4 transactions.
Since our first vintage in real estate investments via Sterling UK Real Estate Fund (SURF) in partnership with Gatehouse Bank, London, we have been solidifying our investment track records through newer vintage in the preceding years. This has entrenched Sidra Capital as one of the few APs that has been consistently offers opportunities in the UK real estate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the region.
